This is indeed Fabulous News... truly an important and groundbreaking discovery that will provide further insight into the origins of the Moon and impetus for further manned exploration !!!

Hopefully this will now silence the "Nay Sayers" who were critical of ISRO and the Chandrayaan-1 Mission when it had to be cut short due to technical issues.

Exploration of space, moon and other planets in the solar system offers the potential for nations to research and develop advanced technological capabilities with the added benefit of direct multiple applications outside space science.

In addition it enhances Mankind's knowledge and understanding of Astronomy, Astrophysics and other related scientific fields.

Of course civilian space technologies has dual use capabilities of being used for military applications in national defense and anti-terrorism initiatives (like high resolution aerial terrain surveillance).

Specifically in the case of Moon exploration and colonization there is the opportunity to discover abundant sources of Helium-3 that can be eventually mined and extracted for transportation back to Earth for supplying for our ever growing energy needs through Nuclear Fusion. Helium-3 from the moon is an alternate "clean" energy source through Nuclear Fusion to Earth's dwindling and expensive fossil fuels.

Can educationally oriented, informative, fun and entertaining video animations like this one about Chandrayaan-1 (ISRO's Unmanned Mission to the Moon) scheduled for launch in October 2008 inspire students and young
children in India to pursue careers and excellence in science and technology?
